Join Orla Stevens for another edition of her repeat pattern making workshop, in our series of online Zoom workshops to help see you through lockdown!
During this workshop we’ll be transforming and abstracting elements of our drawings from the previous weeks into simple repeat patterns: thinking about how we can create patterns with different marks, shapes and textures. This workshop is open to all ages and abilities – no previous drawing experience required.
Don’t worry if you haven’t joined in over the past weeks, simply grab an object from your house to draw, and we’ll take it from there. If you’ve participated in previous classes, grab your drawings to reference (or even cut up and use!).
We’ll be looking at how to design motifs using drawing, and how to create a simple repeat block. This class is a great start to understanding how repeats work, and will be a handy preparation for future classes, where we will be preparing drawings for screen printing.
What you’ll need:
Sheets of A4 paper
Drawing tools (pencil, pens, charcoal, crayons, paint, old papers, glue etc)
Ruler
Scissors
Tape
This workshop is free but please consider donating to Print Clan to support our work. Print Clan will be donating a portion of proceeds to a Glasgow based foodbank. Simply register your interest to receive access to the Zoom link, as well as a handy how-to PDF.
