Under an Uneven Moon
In the weeks leading up to the national lockdown in March 2020, Print Clan member Lizzie Urquhart booked out our studio to screen print 90 metres of fabric for her exhibition Under an Uneven Moon at Govan Project Space. The work Lizzie produced made great use of our larger screens and long printing table, and it was a joy to be able to visit the exhibition on the opening night to see them hanging in situ.
Specialising in screen print, collage and photography, Lizzie manipulates photographic images through the medium of collage creating a nuanced and playful response to the world. Through a continuous cycle of making, reflecting and remaking, she creates playful, dynamic print-based installations that cover the walls and floor in vibrant repeat patterns. Her recent production of large-scale, dynamic printed textiles, explores print’s capacity to interact with different surfaces, bringing her work into a more sculptural realm.
Under an Uneven Moon was a collaborative exhibition displaying the work of Lizzie and Freya Edwards, continuing an ongoing dialogue between the two artists which began in 2015 when they met on exchange at the Hungarian University of Fine Art in Budapest. The exhibition depicted a shared love for experimental process-led making, materiality and form. With a dedication rooted in their craft this installation was a celebration of the pleasure and creativity found whilst making.
