Creative Scotland Multi-Year Funding Announcement
Hello from Print Clan - now a Multi-Year Funded organisation.
We are delighted and overwhelmed to share that Print Clan will join the Creative Scotland Multi-Year Funding Portfolio, alongside 250 other organisations we will now receive stable, year-on-year funding.
Thank you Creative Scotland for the recognition and acknowledgement you have given us alongside many of the other newly funded smaller organisations.
The social and economic climate is ever changing and demands a fundamental need for art organisations to adjust and learn to be sustainable. The more of us that can survive in this crazy climate - the more people and communities will benefit from the beautiful and empowering gift of art.
Print Clan only exists today thanks to the endless support from our 151 members and our collaborators. So now more than ever, we want to continue to be a valuable resource for all third sector organisations around Glasgow.
We started inside a tiny shared studio in the east end of Glasgow before first moving to the Southside and then again in late 2019 to our current location on 241 High Street. We began with only couple of screens and a single exposure bulb. We washed screens in plastic buckets, before upgrading to a shower - yes it was an actual shower! Surviving between workshops and part-time jobs with the help and support of a growing community of members and friends.
Here is that is the same table 5 years on surrounded by people and artwork during our annual member's exhibition and fundraiser. We are unbelievably proud to have it in our studio today and it holds so many memories of all the people that have printed on it.
Pictured here is our beloved 9 metre textile screen printing table being built, and it was only thanks to Haxton Studio that we were able to buy it.
A special thanks goes to our board of directors, and to Suzie and our grant writer Laura for all their hard work and dedication to make our application successful.
Thank you to Fraser, David and Diane and our volunteers and employees for their never-ending selfless support.
We have an ambitious three years on the horizon and thanks to this funding we are able to continue building the most advanced open access textile printing studio in Scotland and we can’t wait to welcome more new communities inside of Print Clan - ‘Everyone’s Textile Printing Studio’.
