Mondays 15th, 22nd May & 5th June • 6:00-8:00pm
This three week course with additional mentoring from David Dow, owner of Urban Pirate Apparel, will introduce you to using our t-shirt carousel, a specialist piece of equipment ideal for printing runs of garments and merchandise.
What will happen during the workshop?
During this three week workshop you will learn the complete process of t-shirt printing. You will be guided through how to correctly set up a two colour design for print, and produce a small run of garments printed with your design using the t-shirt carousel.
What experience do I need?
As you are working with a specialised process, prior knowledge of the screen printing process is preferable. This course is ideally suited to Print Clan members who can use the break in between the second and third sessions to practice using the carousel.
What will I make?
Week 1
David will introduce you to printing using the t-carousel, and you will have the chance to practice a two colour print using a pre-exposed design. You are encouraged to bring your own two colour artwork files along to this session, which David will help you correctly set up for printing in the following week. You will each coat two screens for use in the following week.
Week 2
You will expose the screens from the previous week with your designs, mix your own inks and set up the t-shirt carousel. Each student will have time to practice printing their design on the carousel.
There will be a break between the second and third sessions over the May bank holiday. Members are encouraged to book into the studio in this time to practice using the t-shirt carousel with your prepared screens and mixed colours.
Week 3
David will return for the final session to provide technical support and troubleshoot any problems that you may have encountered. You will leave the course with a small run of printed t-shirts, and having gained confidence in using the t-shirt carousel.
Equipment Provided:
Equipment and materials such as screens, squeegees, a range of ink colours, newsprint paper and tape are all included. We will provide one white t-shirt for the first session, as well as scrap t-shirts to practice on. Please bring your own t-shirts or garments for Week 2, or purchase blanks from our online shop.
