Screen Print and Sew... Your own Sweatshirt! With Rachel Mcmillan

  • Fashion Foundry 60-64 Osborne Street Glasgow, Scotland, G1 5QH United Kingdom (map)

We are teaming up with Rachel Mcmillan, an award winning Scottish Designer to bring you this one day workshop. It is the perfect way to try something creative, expand your sewing and print knowledge and learn some new skills along the way - what better way to spend a Sunday?

We will guide you through the full design process, the basics of screen printing and introduce you to sewing on an industrial lockstitch and overlocker machine.

You will leave with your very own custom designed, printed and sewn sweatshirt (and it's made from luxuriously soft 100% certified Organic Cotton).

What will I do?

During this two part workshop you will learn to screen print a design onto fabric and then make it into your very own unique, personalised sweatshirt. Throughout the workshop you will:

- Have time to experiment with design ideas and sketch some ideas onto paper

- Learn how to thread an industrial sewing machine

- Practice sewing some shapes and seams onto fabric so you are confident so sew your sweatshirt in the afternoon!

- Learn how to use pre-prepared screens to print a range of geometric shapes onto fabric

- Choose to print onto the Front, Back or Sleeves of your sweatshirt (or all 3!)

- Get to use the well-equipped sewing room at Fashion Foundry and learn step by step how to sew up your sweatshirt (with take home notes)

- Learn to use an industrial overlocker to neaten your seams (and get tips on how you can replicate this at home)

- Leave with a cool, comfy, organic cotton sweatshirt to proudly wear on your way home!

What will I make?

Your own custom printed sweatshirt! We will provide you with a beautiful light grey sweatshirt fabric with a soft brushed back inside. Beautiful to wear (and show off) all year round!

Skill Level
