Volunteer at Print Clan

Print Clan is an inclusive screen printing studio that nurtures creativity in people at any ability. We accommodate social, design and fine art based projects by offering access to screen printing resources and training. As well as serving a community of over 100 members through studio access, we run regular educational workshops and courses from our studio on 241 High Street. We are looking for studio volunteers to help around the workshop with general tasks and to assist with our Print for Wellbeing Clubs.

Volunteer tasks include:

  • Cleaning screens, squeegees, and ink pots

  • Tidying away materials

  • Stripping screens (health and safety induction provided)

  • Heat pressing garments for merchandise jobs

  • Organising leftover inks

  • Assisting with cleaning on workshops & courses

Volunteering can be a great way to gain insight into the studio and workshop technician role. Although this is an unpaid opportunity, any time that you spend volunteering will be reimbursed through our timebanking scheme, meaning that you get Print Clan membership and free time back in the studio to screen print. This role would most benefit an arts student or recent graduate with a knowledge of screen printing who would actively use their time back in the studio and we encourage applications from existing Print Clan members.

Print Clan’s core opening hours are Tuesday-Friday, 11am-5pm, and our Print Club at the Deep End runs every Thursday 10-1pm. You may be asked to volunteer in our normal opening hours, during the evenings, or at weekends. This will be negotiated around any paid work you have. Volunteers normally commit about three hours a week over a period of four-six months. More info Print Clan’s approach to volunteering can be found in our Volunteering Policy.

If you are interested in volunteering with us please send an email with the subject ‘Volunteering’ to hello@printclan.co.uk with the following info:

  • A couple of sentences about yourself

  • Why volunteering would be beneficial for you at this time

  • What textile screen printing experience you have*

  • Any experience working with community groups or people of marginalised identities

  • Your availability

  • Your preference to volunteer at the studio and/or Print Club

*Please only apply if you have existing screen printing experience as we are unable to provide screen printing training as part of this role

Where necessary Print Clan will undertake Disclosure and PVG checks for volunteers working with vulnerable groups.

The deadline for applications is Monday 14th October at 5pm. We will invite successful candidates for an informal chat at the studio.

Accessibility
Unfortunately our current studio is not wheelchair accessible, but we are able to offer volunteering opportunities for candidates with disabilities at our Print Club, which takes place every Thursday morning (10am-1pm) at The Deep End in Govanhill. Please email us with the subject ‘Volunteering: Print Club’ if you have a disability which is not accommodated by our High Street studio. Print Clan will make reasonable adjustments during the interview and hiring process for any candidates with disabilities.
