We’re celebrating Print Clan member Elinor Scarth’s textile screen printing journey as she exhibits House of Yves’ ‘Lavender Love’ collection, selected for Dundee Design Festival 23rd-29th September 2024.

House of Yves is a creative landscape and garden design studio established in 2023 by Leonie Mhari and Elinor Scarth. The studio is on a mission to bring their award winning garden design experience to all scales of garden projects and widen accessibility to gardening.

Combining creativity with plant knowledge and practcal knowhow, House of Yves’ write gardens into existence through their unique creative process. Elinor completed Print Clan’s beginner’s course in 2022 and went on to become a studio member. From this starting point she has developed an innovative new garden design product with House of Yves.

Lavender Love, by House of Yves, is an easily implementable garden design created to empower those new to gardening who want to transform their outdoor space for ecological and environmental benefit. The sustainable design provides an accessible and affordable way to create a garden for those with limited outdoor space and horticultural knowledge. Inspired by Lavender Menace and the Pink Triangle, this design encapsulates House of Yves’ approach to bringing a queer consideration to landscape design.

Used pink jute coffee sacks are repurposed and screen printed to create a design product that simplifies the planing process, assists novice gardeners and makes a visual design statement. The product features help budding gardeners who may have limited time; the printed fabric facilitates setting out the plants according to the design, while the woven jute textile provides an ideal biodegradable weed suppressant membrane favouring healthy plant establishment.

The current popularity of plastic lawns and monoblock paving drives a necessity in offering alternative sustainable garden solutions that are easy to achieve and maintain. House of Yves’ successional planing designs include only perennial plants: the resulting garden will continue to flourish over each growing season and year-to-year. House of Yves are passionate about supporting people to find connections with nature at home, to improve mental and physical wellbeing and gain a sense of empowerment in the face of global environmental challenges.
